Storytelling and Songs

Texts and Songs are originals by Lauraliz Morales and Horacio Martinez, a project inspired by the Andean Mountains and its rich culture.

 

Our performance, titled "Celebrate Andean Culture: A Musical Journey through Nature and Food," is a tribute to the Andes Mountains' natural beauty and culinary traditions through music and storytelling. Music has the power to transport listeners to different places and connect them to cultures. Our music aims to transport families to the Andean Mountains and celebrate the human-nature connection.

 

Our music is a unique blend of traditional Andean melodies and instruments, such as the kalimba, charango, zampoña, and quena, with contemporary elements. The guitar's sway and percussion's beat evoke rolling hills and raindrops, immersing the audience in the atmosphere of the mountains.

 

What sets our music apart is our incorporation of food into our compositions, reflecting Latin American culture. In our song "Carnavalito del tamal," we compare love to the rich and traditional flavors of tamales, while "Puesterita de Barcena" tells the story of artisan cheesemakers who sell their products on the side of the road in the Andean mountains. These food-inspired lyrics add a playful and relatable quality to our music and highlight the importance of culinary traditions, nature, and community-building in Latin American culture.

 

Morales and Martinez's music is heartfelt and rooted in our cultural legacy and the Andean environment. Our compositions are an ode to the existence, affection, and inherent delights of nature and gastronomy, encapsulating the essence of life's simple pleasures. Our performance will entertain, educate, and inspire families to appreciate different cultures and the beauty of nature.
